Heading into Terminator: Salvation I must admit, I really wasn't expecting much from the film. I mean I'm a fan of Christian Bales, and I was impressed with Sam Worthington from his small role in director's Greg McLean's Rogue, and the fact that James Cameron cast him in his new film Avatar. But the fact remained that Cameron wasn't involved on any level, and the fact that they handed the keys of the franchise over to McG to direct the film. I will admit it upfront that I'm not a fan of any of the films he's done so far, so I had that as a big concern.
So how did the film stack up? Well let's find out.
When the film opens we're introduced to Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), we find out that he's a death row inmate about to be executed. That is until Dr. Kogan (Helena Bonham Carter) approaches him about donating his body to a scientific experiment. After a short conversation the good Doctor gets Marcus to sign his body over to her little experiment. The lights go dark, and we're suddenly in the year 2018 post Judgment Day.
The movie picks up with a group of Resistance fighters as they try and infiltrate one of Skynets bases. This is the point in the movie when we're reintroduced to John Conner (Christian Bale) as an adult post Judgment Day in the thick of battle as they take on T-600's and other goodies Skynet left for them to fight.
The Resistance takes the bunker only to find a few bodies, and then they realize that Skynet had set a trap for them, and everyone is killed except John Conner. Leaving all coincidences aside Marcus Wright also happens to be in that bunker, and he awakes from an 11-year sleep where he has no recollection of what had happened to him. Conner, and Wright never meet, but it's worth noting that they're in the same place at the same time.
